The Green Home Grants Voucher Scheme is an initiative to boost jobs in the "Green Economy" and to cut household carbon emissions.
Homeowners can apply for a voucher, worth up to £5,000 (or £10,000 if they are on benefits) that can be used to pay up to 2/3rds of the cost of installing energy efficiency measures in their home.
The Scheme, which runs until the end of March 2022, covers the following range of measures:
- solid wall insulation (internal or external)
- cavity wall insulation
- under-floor insulation (solid floor, suspended floor)
- loft insulation
- flat roof insulation
- pitched roof insulation
- room in roof insulation
- insulating a park home
- air source heat pump
- ground source heat pump
- solar thermal (liquid filled flat plate or evacuated tube collector)
- biomass boiler
- hybrid heat pump
If any of these measures is being installed, the voucher will also be able to be used to pay for any secondary measure from the following:
- draught proofing
- double or triple glazing (where replacing single glazing)
- secondary glazing (in addition to single glazing)
- energy efficient replacement doors (replacing single glazed or solid doors installed before 2002)
- hot water tank thermostat
- hot water tank insulation
- heating controls (such as, appliance thermostats, smart heating controls, zone controls, intelligent delayed start thermostat, thermostatic radiator valves)
The secondary measures are only available if one of the initial primary measures is being installed first, and the cost of the secondary measure is below that of the primary measure.
Homeowners can apply for a voucher from the 30th September 2020, but first vouchers will not go out until 9th November 2020.
Installers are also able to register for the scheme if they are already TrustMark registered. Only TrustMark registered installers are allowed to carry out work under the scheme.
The Installer registration system opened in September, but there have been delays processing the installers applications, but most installers should be processed during November, and than able to start work.
