Applications open for latest round of £107m Heat Network Efficiency Scheme

The scheme is aimed at heat networks that are operating sub-optimally and delivering poor outcomes for customers and operators.

HNES is a £107million grant support programme running from 2023-24 to 2029-30 and is open to organisations from the public, private and third sectors. Funding is designed to support improvements to existing heat networks, helping operators address performance problems and improve the efficiency of their systems.

The scheme forms a core part of the Government's wider Heat Network Transformation Programme and follows the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme Demonstrator, which ran between October 2021 and March 2022. A series of guidance videos is also available to help heat network operators identify practical steps they can take to improve system performance.

Applicants are being encouraged to consult the scheme guidance, which sets out eligibility requirements, the application and assessment process and the monitoring and reporting obligations for successful projects. Application forms for Round 13 can be requested by emailing hnes@talan.com.
