Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh has outlined the Government's ambition to give local and regional authorities a greater role in delivering the Warm Homes Plan, as part of wider reforms designed to make Britain's energy system more affordable and effective.

ENERGY SECRETARY SIGNALS GREATER LOCAL ROLE IN WARM HOMES PLAN

Speaking at Energy UK's annual conference on 14 October, she confirmed the Government's intention to devolve funding, enabling local and regional government to help coordinate and accelerate home energy improvements, including insulation, solar panels, clean heating and smart technologies.

The Energy Secretary also acknowledged the importance of giving businesses greater certainty to invest and expand, arguing that the energy system needs better coordination, clearer responsibilities and a stronger partnership between government and industry.

She stressed that the ultimate measure of success must be whether households and businesses benefit from more affordable energy, rather than simply meeting targets for clean power generation.

For the energy efficiency sector, the emphasis on local delivery and long-term investment confidence is particularly significant as businesses look for greater clarity about future opportunities under the Warm Homes Plan.
