ECO4 and GBIS mid-scheme changes: rural area definition update

DESNZ published a clarification note on June 12 regarding the reassignment of ECO4 ABS to GBIS and the rural area definition. 

ECO4 and GBIS will use updated versions of rural urban classification datasets for properties in England and Wales and Scotland.  

The change will be effective from the day on or after the scheme legislation is amended and becomes law. The draft amendment legislation was laid on June 11, however it will not become law immediately. Timeframes are dependent on parliamentary process and ministerial signing and will be updated on the parliament website as it progresses.
