In her first day on the job, new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has appointed Jacob Rees-Mogg MP as the new Secretary of State for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
The old Etonian has, in the passed, made several remarks questioning the net Zero Strategy and the impact of Climate Change.
His voting record on environmental issues is very mixed and he has for example voted against measures to reduce CO2 emissions from new buildings.
As well as being a high profile Member of Parliament, Mr Rees-Mogg is a successful investor and hedge fund manager, with considerable business experience, so it might be hoped that he will see the benefit of investments into the Energy Efficiency sector.
The Prime Minister has also appointed Graham Stuart MP as Climate Minister within BEIS, and he has also been given a seat in the Cabinet along side his new boss.
So far Lord Callanan and Greg Hands MP remain in their posts as Enegy Ministers.
