Energy and Climate Minister Resigns

After 8 years as a Government Minister, Graham Stuart MP has resigned from his post at the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ).

Mr Stuart was appointed the Minister of State with responsibility for Climate Change and Net Zero in September 2022, having previously been a Minister in the Foreign Office.

In his resignation letter to the Prime minister, he praised the civil servants in DESNZ calling them "among the finest in the civil service, going above and beyond to ensure the UK's energy security and decarbonisation while also delivering affordable energy."

The Prime Minister in his response praised Mr Stuart for his "great help in our development of a pragmatic, proportionate and realistic approach to reaching our Net Zero targets".

The King has appointed, Justin Tomlinson MP, in his place.
