The Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP has been appointed as the new Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
The former Labour Party leader was previously, between 2008 and 2010, the Secretary of State at DECC, so this is a return to a brief that he knows well.
He will be joined in the Department by:
Sarah Jones MP, who will be Minister of State, jointly with her role in the Department of Business &Trade
Lord Philip Hunt of Kings Heath, who will be Minister of State in the House of Lords
Kerry McCarthy MP will be a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State
Michael Shanks MP will also become a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State
Miatta Fahnbulleh MP will also become a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, after just 5 days as an MP. One of the fastest promotions to Government in history.
